ASUS has outed the 1802 BIOS version targeted at its Maximus V series motherboards, which is an OS-independent file that optimizes the BIOS configuration, thereby improving the board’s overall performance.

Specifically speaking, the motherboards included in the Maximus V series that are compatible with this release are the Gene, Extreme, Formula, Formula/ThunderFX, and Formula Game Bundled Edition devices.

Know that if the board works fine, updating the BIOS isn’t a must; it is recommended to upgrade the version only when the new package fixes a specific problem that you are encountering, otherwise it’s an unnecessary risk that you are taking.

Moreover, make sure not to apply a new BIOS on overclocked settings or interrupt the flash process, because doing so may result in an update crash, and therefore, device malfunction.

So, make sure to load the default BIOS settings before initiating the update, and ensure that you have a stable power environment.

That being said, follow the link below, and from the list, choose the one that best describes your motherboard.
