After having surfaced on the Internet late last week, ASUS' latest addition to its line of ROG motherboards, the Crosshair III Formula board, has recently made an official appearance on the company's website. Designed for computer and overclocking enthusiasts, the new board is ready to support the latest Phenom II processors coupled with DDR3 memory, for an impressive performance. Unlike other Phenom II-ready boards, the new Crosshair III Formula from ASUS is packed with a number of features that are ultimately meant to further increase performance and provide computer enthusiasts with yet another ROG overclocking platform.

As expected, the board is designed on AMD's 790FX chipset and delivers support for up to 16GB of DDR3 1600 (O.C)/1333/1066MHz memory. There are two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots, ready to support a pair of Radeon HD 4890 graphics cards featuring CrossFireX multi-GPU technology, consequently enabling a choice for a high-end desktop gaming rig. Additional features include three PCI-Express 2.0 ports, one PCI 2.2, 5 x SATA 3GB/s, one eSATA 3GB/s and one UltraDMA 133. On the back panel, users will be able to take advantage of the 6 USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA port, one PS/2, IEEE1394a, 1 x Clr CMOS and one Gigabit Ethernet LAN port.

The Crosshair III Formula has been designed for overclocking enthusiasts and high-end, AMD-based platforms, which is why ASUS has included a number of additional features. To name a few, the board comes with support for up to 8 fans, ASUS' MemoOK! memory rescue tool and the bundled ROG OC Station. To sweeten the offer, the company has also included a bundle of full-version software applications, including Kaspersky anti-virus, Futuremark 3DMark06 Advanced Edition.

Unfortunately, the Taiwanese motherboard maker hasn't detailed the board's pricing and availability.
