The new P7P55D-E and P7P55D

Taiwan-based ASUS has announced today the official debut of its new P7P55D-E and P7P55D series of motherboards, designed specifically to provide computer enthusiasts with support for USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s connectivity. The two boards have been built on Intel's P55 chipset, and are compatible with socket LGA 1156-ready Core i5 and Core i7 processors, offering a choice for a high-performance desktop PC, that features Intel's latest mainstream desktop technology.

According to the technical specifications of the new P7P55D-E motherboard, users will be able to enjoy the computing performance enabled by the latest Core i7 and Core i5 processors, in addition to that offered by future Core i3 CPUs.

The two boards are featured with support for dual-channel DDR3 1600MHz memory modules, two PCI-Express graphics slots, for CrossFireX and SLI technologies, a 48 Hybrid Phase power design and a wide range of ports and connectors.

The P7P55D-E Premium Motherboard comes with 6 SATA 3Gb/s ports, one eSATA (via a bracket), one Ultra DMA and 2 SATA 6Gb/s. The board also has 10 USB 2.0 ports (with 6 of them available on the back panel and 4 via the on-board connectors), two 1394a and two USB 3.0 ports. In addition, the Taiwanese company will also offer the U3S6 Expansion Card, which provides users with 2 SATA 6Gb/s ports with support for up to 2 SATA hard drives, as well as 2 USB 3.0 ports.

The card is compatible with a PCIe x4, x8 or x16 slot, and will be made available for the following motherboards: Maximus III Formula, P7P55D Deluxe, P7P55D EVO, P7P55D PRO, P7P55D , P7P55D LE and P7P55D LX. It is also bundled with 2 SATA 6Gb/s cables, a support CD and a User manual.
