Taiwan-based ASUS has officially announced the expansion of its gaming laptop lineup with the introduction of its new G51 and G60, which the company showcased at its booth at Computex. The new systems have been specifically designed to meet the performance requirements of gaming enthusiasts, providing them with the latest hardware components and an unique exterior design. While the G51 features an HD 15.6-inch LCD monitor, the G60 comes equipped with a slightly larger 16-inch HD backlight display.

Both systems have been designed to take advantage of Intel's latest Centrino 2 platform, enabling a high-level of performance with the help of an Intel Core 2 Duo or Quad processor, accompanied by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M GPU. Both systems will be available with a wide offer of Intel processors, with a core frequency ranging from 2GHz to 2.8GHz, in both dual-core and quad-core variants. The system's high-end graphics are enabled by one of NVIDIA's latest GeForce graphics processing units, the GTX 260M with 1GB of GDDR3 VRAM.

Additionally, both systems have been featured with dual SATA hard drives with support for up to 1TB of storage space, a DVD Super-Multi or a Blu-ray Combo optical drive, a built-in, 2MP webcamera and up to 4GB of DDR2 800MHz system memory. At a first glance, the only difference between the two systems is that the first has been featured with a 15.6-inch display, while the second sports a slightly larger 16-inch LCD.

Measuring 375mm x 265mm x 34.3~40.6mm, the two gaming laptops are expected to weigh 3.3kg, featuring a six-cell battery and a single HDD. Although ASUS did not provide any details regarding the pricing and availability of its new gaming laptops, reports on the Internet indicate that users should expect prices of between $1,500 to $2,500, with the availability slated for sometime in September.
