The new OpenSSL security patch fixes the tablet’s CVE-2014-0160 Heartbleed issue

ASUS has rolled out a new firmware update developed for its Transformer Pad Infinity (TF700KL), namely version 5.0.4.17, which adds a new OpenSSL security patch that fixes CVE-2014-0160 (Heartbleed) issue.

In order to benefit from this newly released improvement, before starting to download the 5.0.4.17 firmware, make sure that your tablet is supported by the new update.

To do so, you’ll need to find out the tablet’s Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) by going to Settings > About Tablet > Build Number. Just to be clear, if the TF700KL displays a “WW_epad-5.x.x.x” build number, then the SKU is “WW,” and the currently installed firmware version is “5.x.x.x.”

Bear in mind that the upgrade process cannot apply a different SKU than the one already installed, and trying to flash a different SKU will result into an upgrade failure which can cause serious device malfunctions.

In addition to that, you must also check to see if the currently installed software version isn’t either newer or matching this release.

Now, if all is OK, you can save the downloadable package and transfer it to the tablet’s internal storage, and then tap on the “System Update” option that should appear in the notifications area.

With this in mind, download ASUS TF700KL Firmware 5.0.4.17, apply the package, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
