Over 16,600 participants worldwide battled for the first place on the Futuremark OverclocKing 2008 competition, proving the gathering to be the largest competition of overclockers ever held. After 14 days of intense competition, two top overclockers emerged, both of them equipped with an ASUS Striker II Extreme motherboard, proving this way the overclocking capabilities of the maker's products.

The two contestants posted online a score of 29,409, which brought them the title of Futuremark OverclocKing 2008 champion. The two have pushed their ASUS Striker II Extreme motherboards to the limit and posted their overclocking results online through the Futuremark Online Result Browser (ORB). This way, they showed to the rest of the overclocking scene the capabilities and the massive overclocking potential of ASUS motherboards.

The winning motherboard scored performance levels close to the latest range of motherboards from ASUS that support the newest Intel Core i7 Extreme processor. Among the leading motherboards, besides the ASUS Striker II Extreme, we can count ASUS P5Q PRO, ASUS Rampage Formula, ASUS P5Q, and the ASUS P5Q Deluxe board. The results unveil the superior overclocking potential of all current and future motherboards from ASUS, and can also be considered as a statement for the possibilities and extreme performance that future ASUS hardware would be able to provide to end-users.

ASUS' Rampage II Extreme motherboard features exclusive innovation as the 16+2 phase VRM design for QPI/Memory controller inside the CPU. The board also includes high quality power components such as low RDS (on) MOSFETs, Ferrite core chokes with lower hysteresis loss and 100 percent Japan-made high quality conductive polymer capacitors meant to deliver ultimate durability, power efficiency and performance. The Futuremark OverclocKing 2008 proves that ASUS is able to deliver products that meet the high requirements of power-users.

More features of the ASUS Rampage II Extreme motherboard include the Extreme Engine with ML Caps designed for dynamic multi-phase power management, TweakIt for on-the-fly overclocking adjustments via a miniature joystick, and Probelt that eliminates the guesswork when it comes to testing for voltages during overclocking.

The newly launched ASUS P6T DELUXE also includes TurboV, an advanced overclocking tool which uses a micro-controller for precise overclocking adjustments, while allowing users to conveniently adjust the CPU ratio (multiplier) for instant CPU upgrades and real-time performance enhancements. It can also provide adjustments to the NB, NB-PCIe, CPU PLL and DRAM voltages in 0.02V micro-intervals. Hardcore users can easily fine-tune their overclocking settings through these overclocking options while opening a benchmarking programs like 3DMark Vantage to obtain their scores immediately.
