The company uses colored balls bouncing all over the place to do it

Marketing tactics come in all types, and ASUS has just employed a fairly minimalistic, but also slightly amusing one, in order to raise awareness about its participation at this year's mobile World Congress.

When it was heard that ASUS had decided not to participate at this year's CeBIT trade show, people could not help but raise questions as to why.

Fortunately, even though the company is going to skip on the show in Hannover, Germany, it won't do the same for MWC 2012.

The event will be held in Barcelona, Spain, between February 27 and March 1.

There, the company intends to release, or at least introduce, a new, high-quality tablet.

ASUS did not explicitly say this would happen. It did not say much of anything on the matter, really.

Instead, it released a very, very short teaser video (17 seconds) that uses a bunch of colored balls and a cardboard box to make a hint.

Said “hint” seems to suggest that the company is going to pay special attention to the resolution of its tablet's screens.

If this is the case, whatever slate ASUS reveals will probably be a competitor to Apple's iPad 3, the upcoming item equipped with a “Retina” display.

For those unaware, Apple's third-generation tablet will possess a screen resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels.

We aren't sure what the use would be for such a high number on a 10-inch panel, but Apple's many followers are sure to buy it in droves regardless.

ASUS might be thinking of releasing a Full HD Eee Pad Transformer Prime, especially now that it has finally fixed that problem that made it restart every two minutes. There may also be a new Padfone in the works, and the MWC would be the perfect occasion to show it off a bit. Either way, there is a new Android product en route.
