Not so long ago ASUS launched the MeMO Pad 8 tablet with Intel 64-bit Moorefield processor in Japan, but availability information was pretty scarce.

Anyway today, news surfaced courtesy of Tinhte.Vn that the tablet is already selling under local mobile carrier KDDI.

The new ASUS tablet is basically a revamped version of the original MeMO Pad 8. The slate arrives with an 8-inch IPS display that boasts a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. Under the hood lies an Intel Atom Z3580 processor from the Moorefield family, which can run as fast as 2.3GHz.

The Moorefield CPU series is based on the same architecture as the Intel Merrifield chips, except this one arrives with improved clock speeds, better graphics performance and is quad-core.

The graphics chip inside the CPU pertain to the new Series 6 Rogue, so customers are expected to see an improved performance, compared to earlier SGX 5 models.

Other specifications include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, two cameras (5MP on the back and 1.2MP in front).

ASUS has slipped a 4350 mAh battery under the hood, which should be enough for you to complete your daily tasks. KDDI is tempting customers to pick the tablet up in three coloring options, including blue, pink and white, but does not provide a pricing specification.
