Users in the US who have been mulling over getting a MacBook Pro now have another option they might want to take into consideration.

ASUS has brought its sleek Ultrabook, the ZenBook Pro UX501, into US stores and customers will be able to grab it for prices starting at $1,799 / €1.643.

To compete with Apple’s MacBook Pro, which takes advantage of a Retina display, ASUS is also offering advanced display technology with its new ultrabook model. Thus, the ZenBook Pro UX501 comes with a 15.6-inch 4K IPS display with 3,840 x 2,160 resolution and 178-degree viewing angles.

For those who don’t need such an advanced screen, ASUS is also putting on sale regular models with regular IPS full HD displays with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.

In the hardware department, ASUS has embedded a 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with either 2GB or 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM and up to 16GB of internal storage. ASUS also offers the option of configuring the laptop with 128GB or 256GB solid-state drive, 1TB hard drive or 512GB of PCle flash-based storage.

As for GPU, the ZenBook Pro UX501 bundles NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 960M graphic card, which isn’t NVIDIA’s current top-of-the-line offering; the GTX 980M is.

Other specs of the MacBook Pro killer include three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port, one mini DisplayPort, SDXC card reader, HD web camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Bang&Olufsen ICEpower-tuned audio.

Expect ASUS to start selling the laptop on Monday.
