Now that the Santa Clara, California-based Intel has finally announced the introduction of its line of next-generation mobile processors, a number of computer vendors have decided to come out of the closet and roll out their latest portable computer systems boasting said processors. Following in the footsteps of Alienware and Toshiba, ASUS has just updated its product listing with a new model, the M60J, which has been featured with support for Intel's latest processors, namely the Core i7 820QM and 720QM.

Built on Intel's PM55 Express chipset, the new laptop can be customized with two of the company's most powerful mobile processors to date, part of the chip maker's line of mobile Core i7 CPUs. The 16-inch laptop supports up to 4GB of DDR3 1333MHz memory and is featured with NVIDIA's GeForce GT240M, with 1GB of VRAM, which is meant to power the 16-inch HD Color-Shine LCD, featuring a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels.

According to the system's specs, users will also be able to benefit from the support provided for up to 500GB of storage space on a 5400RPM or higher-performance 7200RPM hard drive. The laptop also features a DVD Super Multi optical drive and can be fitted with a Blu-Ray DVD Combo too. There's also a 4-in-1 card reader, 2MP webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n and optional Bluetooth V2.1+EDR connectivity.

As far as I/O support goes, the laptop has been featured with an Express card, one VGA port, four USB 2.0 ports, 1 x IEEE 1394 port, 1 x RJ45, HDMI, eSATA, Line-In and Microphone jack. Designed as a portable multimedia rig, the M60J also features an AI TouchMedia technology, which is essentially a one-touch multimedia center that offers a way to control videos, photographs, music and other multimedia files.

Unfortunately, there's no word on pricing and availability at this time, but the company is also expected to announce a couple of other Core i7-equipped laptops.
