The rapidly growing in popularity nettops were certainly a type of product not overlooked by Asus, which has been toying with its customers' expectations, always revealing bits and pieces of its upcoming hardware. This time, the video involving the very looked-forward-to Asus EB1501 nettop doesn't reveal too much, so as to keep public expectations high, but still shows enough to not stir any kind of frustration or disappointment in viewers.
The EB1501 is a very small form factor product. The ultra mobile unit uses a dual-core Atom 330 1.6Ghz CPU, and an NVIDIA ION graphics GPU. The video put together by the developers reveals not only these elements, but also the low power usage and the very small size.
The only current downside of this gadget is the fact that it is only available in several countries in Europe, for pre-order. The nettop will come with Windows 7 Home Premium, two keyboards, a wireless mouse and even a remote controller.
In addition, it will boast a card reader and two USB ports on the front, as well as an optical drive, audio jacks and the power button. The back side of the product will have all the usual features of an Eee box, namely VGA and HDMI sockets, an Ethernet jack, an eSATA port and four more USB ports, plus a wireless antenna to give added range to the built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi feature.
Although no piece of information has been given concerning whether or not the product will eventually be available in the United States, it is expected to hit the shelves of Italian stores very soon and it is also available for pre-order in several other European countries. Pricing details have not been made available as of yet.
