The newcomer also has a very small response time and a narrow bezel

The Republic of Gamers brand from ASUS usually makes it on motherboards and graphic cards, or full PCs, but there are also monitors, among other things. ASUS has just released the Swift PG278Q.

The ROG Swift PG278Q is a 27-inch display that goes to extremes on all fronts. Sure, the size isn't the greatest ever, but it's more than large enough for comfortable viewing, and larger diagonals make it hard to take in everything on-screen when sitting at a desk. It's the same reason people sit far away from a 40-inch or larger TV: perspective.

Everything else about the new ASUS monitor is top notch: a response time of 1 ms (you can't get much better), a refresh rate of 144 Hz (3D support, Turbo key for one-click switching between 60 Hz, 120 Hz or 144 Hz), and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels (not quite 4K, but it's not like 4K gaming is all that popular yet).

NVIDIA G-SYNC technology is also present: syncs the refresh rate with the graphics card, for smoother visuals and no screen tearing.

A final function is the ASUS-exclusive GamePlus hotkey, which lets you select between four different crosshairs (best used in shooters).

The ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q has a 6mm bezel and LED Light-in-Motion (a small LED circle on the base of the height-adjustable stand, for immersive atmosphere). It should be up for sale in Taiwan, for $799 / €799, with China and North America set to receive shipments in August 2014 (next month).
