The famous Taiwanese mainboard manufacturer has just announced a new WQHD monitor that comes with a 27” IPS LED-backlit display and 100% sRGB color space compatibility. The 8-bit IPS panel has an impressive 109 PPI (pixel per inch) density and shows good 178 degrees viewing angles.

The raising popularity of the IPS monitors is one of the nice surprises 2012 has brought us, but the numerous WQHD monitor launches that we reported during the past few months bring a wide, satisfied smile to our faces.

The new product from ASUS is officially called PB278Q and is practically an improved VA278Q monitor.

The 2560 by 1440 display has an impressive 80,000,000 to 1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio and 300 cd/sqm of brightness along with a gaming oriented 5ms GTG response time that’s a good value for an IPS panel.

If you are in search for a quality WQHD monitor, you might want to check out the affordable Unitcom 27” unit, or DELL's first high-quality AH-IPS 27” display.
