This is one of those large, stupidly overpowered beasts that sometimes creep out

The ROG brand has been applied to another ludicrously powerful piece of hardware from ASUS: the Rampage IV Black Edition motherboard.

Rampage IV Black Edition is an E-ATX platform, which means that it's so large that only big tower cases will have room for it.

There are four PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots on it, as well as two PCIe 2.0 x1 slots, 8 DDR3 DIMM slots (up to 64 GB) and various other ports and plugs.

Basically, if you want something to use in overclocking, ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition has it. Unless it's not something supposed to be installed on a motherboard anyway.

ASUS ships it with the OC Panel console, which can be mounted internally or left out of the PC, for direct control over fan speeds, among other things. It also monitors temperatures and can offer one-click CPU Level Up when mounted inside the system.

Sales of the black platform will start on November 18 for $499 / €499, probably.
