14 DAY TRIAL // World’s best known mainboard manufacturer, Taiwanese company ASUS has just launched a new professional IPS monitor that comes with impressive features and connectivity options.
The new display features a nice and rare 16 by 10 aspect ratio and a superior high-definition resolution.
The official denomination of the new monitor is ASUS PA248QJ and the 16 by 10 format comes with a 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution that’s actually superior to today’s ubiquitous FullHD monitors.
The screen has a 24.1” diagonal size and comes with a nice 300 cd/sqm brightness, but the company conveniently “forgets” to mention the normal contrast ratio in the official specifications listed on its site.
ASUS only touts a Smart Contrast Ratio (ASCR) of 8 million to 1 and that’s its equivalent to the popular dynamic contrast ratio.
The IPS panel has a decent 6 milliseconds response time, but this is a gray-to-gray rating rather than the standard black-to-black.
ASUS’ PA248QJ emphasizes heavily on color reproduction and the manufacturer brags about the fact that its dials come pre-calibrated right from the box, but are also bundled with a very useful color calibration kit.
The LED backlit panel sports 100% sRGB and 72% NTSC color reproduction while there are customized hue and saturation controls with 6 color adjustments that allow user to adjust six colors (red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow) independently without affecting other colors.
The new display also features rich connectivity options such an impressive 4-port USB 3.0 hub, the DisplayPort connector, an HDMI port, a DVI connector and the classic VGA D-Sub.
Some interesting image scaling previewing functions are also present directly into the monitor’s OSD and this will allow you to see what your pictures will look like in printed size.
