14 DAY TRIAL // These days, everything coming from ASUS has been about the Eee lineup, with the introduction of several new Eee PC models and the announcement for the release of yet another Eee-branded product, the Eee Top. Now, however, the Taiwanese company seems to have found some spare time to dedicate to its other product lineups, such as that of desktop LCD monitors. ASUS has just introduced two new 25.5-inch widescreen displays, and has announced two more 24-inch widescreen monitors to become available later this month.
The new VK266H and VW266H are part of the company's 26W product series and, as you might expect, come built with some pretty impressive features, such as 20000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, 16.7 million display colors and a 2ms GTG response time. If you take a quick look at the specifications sheet of the two models, there's a pretty good chance you won't see any significant difference between the two. However, unlike the VW266H, ASUS' VK266H incorporates a 2MP rotatable web camera, allowing its users to easily hold video conferences without the need of an additional webcam.
The soon-to-be-available VK246H and VW246H monitors have been built to provide a maximum resolution of 1920 by 1080 for a high quality video experience. The two 24-inch monitors are rather similar with their 25.5-inch counterparts, in terms of technical specifications. This means you will also be provided with the choice of a built-in webcam or a standalone 24-inch widescreen display, with the difference that the VK246H model has a 1.3MP webcam, unlike the 2MP webcam integrated in the 25.5-inch version.
Other features include two built-in 3W (or 2W for the 24-inch models) stereo speakers, DVI-D, D-SUB, HDMI and SPIDF (only available for the VK266H and VW266H models) connectors. No word on pricing just yet, but when these new additions become available, they will only come in a black color option.
