One of the biggest attractions at this year's CeBIT show held last week in Hanover, Germany was ASUS's booth, where the company showcased a number of its latest products and some of its already available ones. However, even at the company's booth there were a couple of main highlights, including the range of gaming-focused portable computer systems, designed with the latest in computer hardware. One of those machines is the G71Gx, which is basically a monster of a laptop with a high-end processor and NVIDIA's latest GeForce GTX 260M graphics card.

As you might expect, the new laptop is part of the company's Republic of Gamers range of high-end products, which are focused on delivering the performance required by some of those gaming enthusiasts. The new system comes with a unique exterior design that combines a metal coloring with red and blue accents. Aside from the impressive design, the new gaming laptop from ASUS packs a serious performance punch, thanks to some high-end hardware components.

The G71Gx is expected to come with NVIDIA's latest GTX 260M graphics card, featuring 1GB of VRAM. Set inside a 17-inch laptop, the new card will enable the system to provide its users with a high level of graphics performance, even at a WUXGA resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. In addition, the laptop also comes with three SO-DIMMs for a maximum of 12GB of RAM and supports a dual hard drive configuration, for up to 1TB of storage space. Other features include Blu-ray and Altec Lansing speakers which roughly make up for what the G71Gx has to offer.

Unfortunately, there's no word on pricing for the time being, but given the overall technical sheet of this gaming monster, we are expecting a rather high price point.
