ASUS is working on getting its latest motherboards series ready, the G45 and G43 line-ups. It seems that the new series will have the P5Q-EM (G45) and P5QL-EM (G43) as their first products to be launched. Both of them are mATX motherboards, and the preliminary news shows them as being equipped with a solid set of characteristics.

Both P5Q-EM and P5QL-EM come with HDMI, DVI and D-sub display connectivity features. The rear panel includes a PS/2 port for the keyboard, as well as six USB 2.0 ports, eSATA, FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet and 7.1-channel analog sound. There will also be an optical S/PDIF out included in the P5Q-EM, but the cheaper version will not have this feature available.

There is a single x16 PCIe slot included on each of the motherboards, along with two x1 PCIe slots and one PCI slot. More connectivity is offered through the six SATA ports, one IDE connector, headers for a further six USB ports and one FireWire port. Although it may sound strange, the motherboards also feature a header for a serial port.

Four memory slots have been included on both motherboards, while the chipset is cooled passively. There will be a 4-phase power regulation available, but quite a few people actually consider it to be some sort of concerning fact, as a number of processors may need more than that. Still, the same voices say that dual core processors would work just fine with it.

No exact launch date has been unveiled yet for any of the motherboards and no price either. Still, they are expected to be released pretty soon, especially since their existence has been rumored on the world wide web for quite a while now, and ASUS enthusiasts are surely waiting to get their hands on the new boards from the company.
