Following a trend that has been set for some time now, Taiwan-based ASUS has further expanded its Eee PC line of ultraportable computer systems with the official introduction of the new Eee PC 1008HA Seashell. Boasting the now-familiar 10-inch form factor, the new Eee PC Seashell is designed to provide computer enthusiasts with an alternative to other 10-inch netbooks currently available on the market. The system is packed with Intel technology and is encased in a chassis that weighs in at just 1.1kg.

Aside from a technical specification sheet that resembles that of many netbooks out there, some of the main features on the new 10-inch netbook from ASUS are present in the system's overall design. According to the company, the new Eee PC Seashell combines an LED-backlit 10-inch display with an ergonomically designed keyboard and an interesting-looking lid that could easily appeal to the aesthetic requirements of ASUS' customer base.

Inside the Eee PC Seashell there's one of Intel's latest Atom processors, the 1.66GHz N280 model, which has been coupled with 1GB of DDR2 memory and a 160GB 5400RPM SATA II hard drive. The system's Intel integrated graphics can easily support the 1024x600 pixel resolution available on the 10-inch LED-backlit display. Additional features include the wireless 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity, a 1.3MP pixel, stereo speakers and the usual array of ports and connectivity options. These include a mini-VGA connector, two USB 2.0 ports, one Ethernet LAN port, a multi-format card reader and two audio jacks for headphone out and mic-in.

Despite no word on pricing and availability, the new Eee PC Seashell is expected to become available with a slim and eco-friendly Li-Polymer battery, capable of up to 6 hours of runtime. In addition, users will be able to choose from an array of coloring options for their new Eee PC 1008HA Seashell, including White, Black, Blue, Pink, Sapphire Blue, and Ruby Red.
