ASUS is planning to release a new tablet on the Indian market. The tech giant has started sending out invites for a media event in the country, set for April 15.

According to AndroidOS, ASUS is setting the stage to unleash the new Fonepad 7 Dual-SIM on the above-mentioned date.

The ASUS Fonepad 7 Dual-SIM (ME175CG) has been shown to the world for the first time at MWC 2014 in Barcelona this February.

The slate comes boasting a 7-inch IPS HD display with a 1280 x 800 resolution and has a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 dual-core processor under the hood, fitted with 1GB of RAM.

Like a lot of tablets marketed in the country, the slate offers 3G, voice-calling support and dual-SIM slots. Like the original FonePad 7 model, the ME175CG comes with dual cameras, which means customers will see a 5MP snapper on the back and a 1.2MP one in front.

The slate runs Android 4.3 out of the box and, who knows, if you’re lucky, ASUS might eventually push the Android 4.4 KitKat update.

There’s no official word on the price, but the slate will probably sell for around Rs. 15,000 / $249 / €180.

ASUS currently offers the Fonepad 7 ME372CG and Fonepad 7 ME371MG models in the country, both running on Intel Atom processors and Android.
