ASUS, one of the world's leading vendors of computer hardware and low-power netbook systems, has recently updated its product portfolio with a new, highly anticipated product that will likely compete with systems such as the Aspire Revo, thanks to the integration of NVIDIA's Ion platform. The new product is part of ASUS' growing line of EeeBox PC nettops and has been dubbed EeeBox EB1012. Featuring a small form factor design, the low-power PC is expected to provide users with support for a full HD (1080P) entertainment center inside a small and convenient package.

A quick look at the spec sheet, available through the company's website, will reveal that the new EeeBox nettop has been configured with a dual-core Atom N330 processor, coupled with the performance-capable NVIDIA MCP7A ION chipset. The system can be equipped with up to 4GB of RAM and a large-capacity 2.5-inch 250GB hard drive, providing all the necessary components for a high-quality computing experience.

Additional features include Gigabit Ethernet, wireless 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, multi-in-1 card reader, six USB 2.0 ports, HDMI out, D-Sub, Audio Out, Wi-Fi Antenna, eSATA port, S/PDIF audio out, headphone and Mic jacks and a DC-in connector. The nettop will be available with both black and white color options and will include an optional wired keyboard and mouse, for a complete desktop PC experience.

The new product measures 222 x 178 x 26.9mm and weighs in at just 1.1kg, which makes it an excellent choice for a low-power HTPC system. Thanks to the dual-core Atom processor, the EeeBox EB1012 should deliver an impressive performance over Acer's Aspire Revo, which comes with a single-core Atom CPU.

Unfortunately we have no details on pricing or when the new nettop is going to be available in stores, but the Taiwanese company is clearly gearing up to officially take the wraps off its NVIDIA ION-based system.
