ASUS is bringing back the defunct Eee PC lineup in Berlin

Remember netbooks? This was a niche which ASUS invented with the launch of their Eee PC line back in 2007.

They were inexpensive, light and portable laptops, but as the years passed by, these products went out of fashion and disappeared almost entirely.

Now, ASUS is trying to revive the past with their new EeeBook Z205. This is a smallish 11.6-inch lappy taking advantage of an Intel Atom Z3735 Bay Trail processor to live (as seen as Liliputing).

The new EeeBook sells for only $199 / €148 (for the same rate you can pick up the HP Stream 14 which runs AMD Mullins) so don’t expect any mind-blowing specs.

ASUS offers the standard resolution in terms of laptops (1366 x 768 pixels) plus 2GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

The laptop offers microSD card reader, micro HDMI, 2 USB 2.0 ports and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

Most importantly, the battery is said to be capable of offering up to 12 hours of life, which is quite impressive. On board you’ll find Windows 8.1 with Bing (of course) and you’ll be able to pick the lappy up with black, white, red or gold paint jobs.

As you can see, ASUS has revived netbooks to basically offer them as a Chromebook alternative. So what will it be – Chrome or Windows?
