The Eee Pad Transformer from ASUS has been largely unavailable mostly because it sold out too fast, but it looks like sales are again underway, although for how long is anyone's guess.

Users waiting on the edge of their seats for another shot at buying that ASUS tablet that went out of stock as soon as it began selling may get their wish fulfilled at long last.

Though it was formally unleashed about two months ago, it went out of stock immediately because of what was likely a combination of high demand and shortages.

It is unclear if ASUS has surmounted all the difficulties, but at least one web store, Office Depot that is, now has the slate in stock once more.

The one equipped with 16GB of storage is priced at $399, quite a bit lower than the $499 that most other Android slates adhere to.

Meanwhile, the 32GB one, whose other specs aren't in any way different from the other slate, has the price of $499.99.

For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 costs $499 with 16 GB and $599 with 32 GB (it also sold out in hours).

“The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer truly stands out from other tablets currently on the market with its great price point and unique features, including the expandable keyboard dock,” said Randy Wick, Vice President of Technology Merchandising for Office Depot.

“Customers who purchase this tablet will have access to thousands of Android apps, hours of entertainment, and the ability to remain productive when away from the office – all in a single device.”

The Tegra 2-based Android 3.1-loaded electronic can be linked to a special docking station, which is essentially a keyboard with extras (two USB ports, a SD card reader and a multi-touch trackpad). Prospective buyers will have to be willing to pay an extra $149.99 for it though.
