Consumers may have been misled into believing that ASUS would leave its entire ION 2 flank to the recently announced Eee PC 1201PN, but this doesn't seem to be the case at all. In fact, if anything, the PC maker seems all the more eager to push the same project forward, especially if it means it can supply the market with a wider variety of products. The latest of these products goes by the name of Eee PC 1215N and is a netbook that apparently fuses some of the best things that mobile PCs have to offer.

There are multiple elements that may draw the attention of onlookers. For one, the netbooks is powered by the Atom D525 processor, a dual-core 1.8GHz chip not often found in such entry-level mobile systems.

Another element is the presence of the NVIDIA ION 2 graphics solution, which feeds the equally uncommon screen of 12.1 inches and native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. All in all, this machine, arguably, doesn't fully qualify as a netbook.

There are two other capabilities that set this device apart from the others of its type. Bluetooth 3.0 support is one of them, though not exactly a new invention, while that which really stands out is the availability of USB 3.0 ports. This will allow end-users to enjoy their SuperSpeed external solutions even on the go.

The rest of the mobile system's feature set is almost as unusual as the aforementioned components, except for the 1GB of RAM. The ION, otherwise known as the NVIDIA GT218, is backed by the Optimus technology, for higher efficiency. A 320GB HDD is also present. Other specifications include 500GB of cloud storage, 10/100 LAN, a built-in webcam and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi. Pricing and availability details are, unfortunately, unavailable, but consumers shouldn't hope for anything under $500.
