The new version adjusts the user interface display

ASUS has outed a new firmware package developed for its EA-N66 and EA-N66R wireless routers, namely version 1.0.1.8h, which adjusts the UI display and optimizes the compatible devices’ connection settings.

When it come to installation, first of all make sure that your router’s currently applied firmware isn’t either newer or matching this release. To do so, log into its administration page, and check out the Firmware Version section.

If all is ok, save and unzip the downloadable archive, establish a wired connection between the router and your computer, and use the newly-extracted .trx file to initiate the installation from the same firmware section as described above.

However, bear in mind that the router will first upload the firmware file, and afterwards start the installation. Considering this, make sure not to remove the Ethernet/power cable, reboot either devices, or interrupt the process in any way, as this can cause serious malfunctions or even render the device unusable.

In addition to that, it would also be a good idea to make sure if the newer package specifically resolves an issue that you have been encountering. Applying a newer firmware should be performed only in this cases; otherwise, it’s just a risk worth avoiding.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your ASUS router, download the package, and update the firmware version.
