It looks like analysts and IT players alike are providing information on how they are turning out in terms of shipments, with ASUS no doubt brimming about how it managed to secure leading position on the LCD market in its home country.

ASUS is one of those IT companies that sell various hardware and PC products in many countries around the world.

Still, even world-class IT players have a home country, a headquarters as it were, where they likely perform, marketing-wise, better than in other areas.

That said, ASUS's own home country is Taiwan, which also happens to be the place where many other manufacturers and suppliers are stationed.

It would appear that the outfit is basking in its supremacy as far as the LCD (liquid crystal display) segment goes, at least for the January-February period.

Not long ago, it was reported that ASUS' hope for the current year (2011) was to ship 4.5 million LCD monitors.

A different report now reveals that, in Taiwan, it secured the leading position for the first two months of the first quarter.

Granted, ViewSonic succeeded in snatching top spot as far as LED-backlit panels went (expected, considering how it made a total transition to this backlighting technology), but ASUS managed to make up for it by offering CCFL-backlit ones on promotions.

Of course, this was, in the end, just part of the outfit's strategy meant to exhaust its supply of such monitors, so that it might focus more on LED.

For those that want numbers, ASUS' share during January-February ended up at 27-28% and, for the whole year, LED-backlit models will account fro 70% of the total.

The share of LED monitors was already at 60% during the two opening months, about a third of which were delivered by ViewSonic and Chimei. Thus, in order to stay in the lead, ASUS will have to sell increasingly more panels of this sort as well.
