ASUS may have its fair share of 'regular' products, even external storage devices, but that doesn't mean it won't try to stand out through uncanny designs, like the one that defines its newest external hard drives.

Like so many other companies, ASUS has had a more or less full week, especially after Intel announced a certain flaw in its 6 Series Cougar point chipsets.

Still, besides taking measures to remedy the situation that arose because of that problem, the outfit also brought forth an NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 and cut the price of the EeeKeyboard, among other things.

Now, the same Taiwanese manufacturer has revealed that a certain collection of hard disk drives is ready to race straight for consumers' desks.

Built in collaboration with the Italian sports car maker Lamborghini, the eponymous external hard disk drives are ready to serve.

The first thing that grabs attention is the shape of the casing, similar to that of the race cars themselves, while the glossy black or white finish completes the image.

With this to give the feeling of style, the drives measure 135.6 x 79.7 x 18 mm and have a storage capacity of 500 GB or 750 GB.

In tune with the idea of speed implied by their name, the HDDs boast the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface, which is ten times faster than USB 2.0. Of course, backwards compatibility with the latter is assured.

In order to ensure some measure of convenience and functionality, the storage units have their own one-touch data backup capabilities, assisted by the FlexSave software.

The newcomers should ship along with a protective case and should cost $119 (500 GB) and $139 (750 GB), or so it is said.

Those end-users that are interested in the offer but wish to have a clear idea of what they are getting need only drop by the official product page, located here.
