While graphics cards and display makers are coming up with new technologies to enhance realism and immersion, audio technologies are making strides of their own in order to enable true and realistic surround sound in any situation. Among the latest products that seek to do this is the ASUS Cine5 PC speaker, which is the first such device to incorporate the “Embracing Sound Theatre HD” technology, even while using a space-efficient design.

The “Embracing Sound Theatre HD” is a patented technology that uses a discrete 5-channel output to deliver audio surround. Consumers experience this sound quality whenever they are directly in front of the speaker. This means that end-users will not need multiple satellite speakers distributed across the room.

This simplifies installation and allows surround sound to be implemented even in highly personalized spaces such as study rooms. Audio quality is further enhanced by a specifically designed bass reflex port, which enables 15dB more bass than speakers of similar size. This adds depth to sound, a depth complemented by the better high-frequency responses brought about by the product's multi-driver configuration.

For end-users interested in actual numbers, the output level of the Cine5 PC speaker reaches a maximum of 28W and 15RMS, while the frequency response ranges between 80KHz and 20KHz. The speaker itself measures 373 x 100 x 100 (with metal stands) or 373 x 100 x 80 (with rubber stands), has 3.5mm jacks for multi-channel inputs, a headphone output and a DC in/Power switch.

“The Cine5 PC speaker represents a modern form in PC speaker design. In a user setting, the three elements of a curved shape, black glossy finish, and its metal knob delivers a touch of elegance. It also blends in with most monitors, with its overall design featuring metal or rubber stands of different heights,” the press release notes.

Unfortunately, ASUS has not yet announced the price or release date of this product.
