ASUS’s larger C300 will probably be made available for pre-order soon too

Yesterday brought us fresh information about ASUS’ upcoming two Chromebook models, the C200 and C300. Most importantly, we saw that the larger of the two, the C300, will be offered in a variety of fun colors, including blue, red and yellow.

The exact dates when we should see the devices made available for customers were a bit sketchy, but now we can reveal that ASUS C200 Chromebook is already available for pre-order from Amazon for $249 / €182 (as expected) and will ship out starting June 10.

The Chrome OS lappy is one of the first devices of its kind to feature an Intel Bay Trail architecture, which is a low-power chip by Intel, that should provide an all-day life cycle to notebooks powered by it.

According to the listing provided by Amazon, the C200 will arrive with an 11.6-inch display and will provide the standard resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

The notebook also offers 80.211ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI out port, SDXC card slot, USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 and weighs around 2.5 lbs / 1.1 kg.

Anyway, ASUS claims the laptop should provide around 10 hours of battery life, which should be enough for all the tasks you want to perform.

The company has also drawn attention to its touchpad that lives beneath the keyboard and which is the same size you’d normally expect to see in a 14-inch laptop.

The ASUS C200 lives by virtue of an Intel Celeron N2830 processor, which is a dual-core 64-bit chip with a TDP of 7.5W and clock speeds of 2.16GHz (burst frequencies going as far as 2.41GHz). The chip is capable of providing support to up to 8GB of RAM, but the current model available for pre-order just has 2GB and there’s no indication whether other models with more RAM will be made available at some point in the future. They probably will.

Like with any other Chromebooks that have been made available so far, Google will offer 100GB of extra storage in the first two years since you purchased the machine.

ASUS is also expected to launch a larger model, the C300 which will arrive with a 13-inch screen and will offer basically the same specifications.

Sadly, the laptop will not offer a full HD screen like we saw in the Samsung larger Chromebook 2.

Since the smaller ASUS Chrome-OS device has popped up from pre-order, the larger one shouldn't lag much behind.
