ASUS released a great many mobile computers over the years, sometimes even making them innovative enough that they stood out quite a bit from the crowd. The company deals in virtually every type of computer, from entry-level netbooks to high-grade multimedia, gaming or professional notebooks. Now, the outfit has announced that it has completed its latest B-Series notebook, known as the B53. It is based on the Calpella platform from Intel and targeted at business users.

At the heart of the laptop lies an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 central processing unit, depending on user preference. As consumers no doubt know by now, these chips have integrated graphics cores on the same die as the processing parts themselves. The selected CPU is paired with 2 GB or 4GB of RAM and, in case consumers want better video capabilities, complemented by a discrete card. In this case, the ATI Radeon HD 5470 is up as an option, which basically means that DirectX 11 is supported.

"Today, our portable computing devices are an extension of ourselves and integral to our work and leisure-time activities," said Boston-Power Vice President of Marketing Sally Bament. "To fully capture the benefits of mobility, users are seeking dependable, high-performance, safe and environmentally sustainable batteries. Boston-Power has established a global reputation for leadership in delivering those solutions. Teaming with ASUS is a tremendous endorsement of Sonata and our lithium-ion battery platform."

"Our customers look to ASUS to provide cost effective solutions that include innovative features such as the Sonata Long Life Battery, which offers not only long term dependability but is also environmentally friendly," said Rudy Magna, Director of Sales, ASUS Computer International.

The B53 has Gigabit Ethernet, a 2.0 megapixel webcam, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Altec Lansing Speakers and a 3-cell 47Whr battery. Finally, it is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home premium 64bit and ahas a starting price of $1,065.
