A new Android-based tablet PC from ASUS went official today, namely the Memo Pad HD 7, featuring a quad-core ARM Cortex A7 processor inside, and a 7-inch IPS touchscreen display capable of delivering a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution.

The new device will arrive on the market with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back and with a 1.2MP front camera for video calling, and should be released in a variety of color options, it seems.

ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih said during the slate’s unveiling at Computex in Taiwan today that two flavors of the Memo Pad HD 7 will be released, with 8GB and 16GB of internal memory, respectively, Engadget reports.

The 8GB flavor of the device is aimed at emerging markets with a price tag of $129 (99 Euro) attached, while the 16GB flavor will be released worldwide, priced at $149 (114 Euro). Unfortunately, it is powered by the older Android 4.0 platform version.
