ASUS seems to have gone for an all-rounder tactic this once, having offered something on both the mobile and non-mobile PC markets, namely a netbook series and a line of all-in-one computers.
The all-in-one system market may not be the largest segment of the PC industry, but it does have a faithful following.
After all, there is something especially convenient about a monitor that has every PC part one needs just behind the screen.
The company that just
revealed a new line of such compact, well-rounded desktops is ASUS, whose ET2210, ET2410 and the ET2700 will arrive from September through November.
In that order, their screen measure 21.5 inches, 23.6 inches and 27 inches in diagonal.
Other than that, they aren't much different form one another, though users will get to choose between some customization options, primarily in regards to graphics.
While all three have the integrated Intel GMA (graphics media accelerator) HD, inherent in the second generation Intel Core CPUs (central processing units) that lie at their metaphorical hearts, they can be fitted with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M as well.
Also, whichever CPU happens to be selected is backed up by DDR3 RAM (random access memory), a maximum of 8 GB in fact.
The rest of the feature set is the same, with Gigabit Ethernet, a built-in webcam, eSATA connectivity, USB 3.0, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and a Blu-ray combo ODD (optical disk drive).
ASUS even threw in a dual-speaker SonicMaster Audio system and made sure all the LCD panels have the same 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution (Full HD support).
The ET2210 and ET2700, scheduled to start shipping at some point next month (October, 2011) and November, respectively, haven't been priced.
The ET2410, however, should already be found up for order, with a starting price of $899, which is more or less the same as 671 Euro.
Then again, European listings sometimes don't go with the exchange rates and just have the item cost as many Euro as it does USD, so one might find it for 899 Euro instead, if it ever does show up there.
