Small platform for the AMD E-series accelerated processing unit

Those who thought ASUS would settle for just one new motherboard have been proven wrong now that a second one was launched for a certain AMD E-Series APU, albeit of a different small form factor.

Consumers keeping track of their options on the motherboard market might have already learned of the ASUS E45M1-M Pro.

We actually covered that particular item in its own article, one that users will find here.

Now, the same company has released a new motherboard, made for the same accelerated processing unit (APU) but featuring a different form factor.

While the E45M1-M Pro was a micro-ATX platform, the E45M1-I Deluxe, as this new one is called, has the mini-ITX shape.

For those that need a reminder as to what the E-series APU can do, it is a dual-core (Bobcat cores) unit of 1.65 GHz and which also has DirectX 11-ready integrated Radeon 6000 graphics.

Those that want all the specifics might be able to identify the GPU by its name of Radeon HD 6320 (80 stream processors, 508 MHz, 600 MHz Turbo Core speed).

As for the motherboard itself, one PCI Express x16 slot, for one, is present, so that buyers may outfit their rig with an add-in-board, should the integrated GPU be insufficient.

Meanwhile, two DDR3-1333 memory slots will back the APU cores, while five SATA 6.0 Gbps ports handle the storage facet of the equation.

Other specifications include, besides the obligatory Gigabit Ethernet, the Bluetooth 3.0 technology, 5.1 channel audio and a pair of video outputs (HDMI and DVI).

Finally, the latest iteration of the Universal Serial Bus standard, otherwise known as USB 3.0, is present and accounted for (it has a theoretical maximum transfer speed of 5 Gbps).

Unfortunately, ASUS provided no pricing or availability information, despite revealing everything else of interest. Hopefully, this final detail won’t take overly long to emerge.
