While its move on the laptop market will definitely draw the looks of many enthusiasts, ASUS did not restrict itself to just the ROG 3D notebooks, having also prepared a number of widescreen monitors, three to be exact.

The G53 and G73 ROG laptops have just arrived on the European market, where they should cause strong ripples with their Fermi graphics and 3D screens.

Now, the same company has developed three displays which go by the names of VK278Q and VE278Q, and VE276Q.

All of them have diagonals of 27 inches, which corresponds to a size of 732 x 560 x 176 mm. The first two employ LED backlighting, known for being more power efficient that CCFL, but the third one stick to those cold cathode electrode lights in order to attain a lower price point.

Part of the product specifications are more or less identical for all members of the trio, such as the resolution, the response time and the video input options.

To be more specific, the displays all have a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, which means they should easily handle any multimedia file or game in high quality.

The newcomers also share the response time of 2ms (GTG) and are equipped with a DisplayPort connector, in addition to a D-Sub, a DVI and HDMI ports.

The VE276Q, the CCFL-using model, has a dynamic contrast ratio of 100,000:1 and comes with 3W stereo speakers.

The VE278Q is more capable, with a DCR of 10,000,000:1, while the VK278Q is almost identical, with the exception that it is also equipped with a webcam.

Finally, ASUS's latest monitors have 16.7 million colors and viewing angles of 170 degrees horizontal and 160 degrees vertical.

The ASUS VE276Q, VE278Q and VK278Q sell for 329 Euro, 339 Euro and 359 Euro, respectively.
