E-readers, multimedia notebooks and 3D all-in-one desktops are far from being the only items on display at ASUS' CeBIT booth. The company naturally also brought along several products aimed at the business sector, among which there are also a couple of business-oriented ultra-slim notebooks. Known as the PL80JT and the PL30JT, these systems blend in with all other recently released laptops, through their use of Intel Core processors, but also stand out through their use of the Turbo 33 overclocking technology.

The two business notebooks are very much similar as far as specifications are concerned, with the exception of their screen size. The PL30JT is the smaller one, with a display measuring 13.3 inches, whereas the PL80JT is only slightly larger, at 14 inches. In both cases, the screen itself can be a slim-type glare or non-glare LCD with a 16:9 HD aspect ratio and a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768. As for the rest of the specs, the two siblings are very much identical.

Both devices are based on the mobile Intel HM55 chipset and are powered by an Intel Core i5-520UM central processing unit. To this CPU are added 4GB of DDR3 memory, which runs at a frequency of 1066MHz. An SATA hard drive provides storage space and can be either a 7200RPM 500GB model or a 5400RPM version with 640GB. In addition, both business PCs feature, besides the integrated Intel GMA HD, the NVIDIA GeForce 310M graphics card, with 1GB DDR3 VRAM. The PL80JT also has a DVD Super Multi optical drive.

In order to make sure that the devices are always ready for any task, ASUS has implemented its Turbo33 overclocking technology, which, as its name suggests, can boost the overall performance by up to 33%. This scalability is complemented by up to ten hours of battery life, enabled by the NVIDIA Optimus technology. Not only that, but the business mobile computers even boast the Anti-Theft Technology, which disables the PC to prevent access, and CompuTrace LoJack technology, which traces the notebook's location in case it is stolen.

These performance and security capabilities are already competitive with those of other business-oriented products, but the PL80JT and the PL30JT have the added benefit of being ultra-slim, less than 1 inch thick. There is no word on prices or availability, however.
