Even though the world has all but stopped mentioning them aloud, netbooks are still here among us, quietly continuing to make the world fuller of low-cost laptops.

ASUS decided not to be so quiet this time around, or at least didn't go by unnoticed by the folks at Mobile Geeks.

The company has prepared three 11.6-inch laptops powered by the Intel Celeron 847 CPU (1.1 GHz).

One of them, priced at 299 Euro / $299, has 4 GB of RAM, a 500 GB HDD and the Ubuntu Linux operating system.

The second F201E is just as strong, but runs the Microsoft Windows 8 operating system. It will sell for 359 Euro / $359.

Finally, ASUS has put together an F201E with 2 GB, a 320 GB drive and, again, Windows 8. The price is of 329 Euro / $329.

All netbooks will ship from next week onwards (October 2012) and will have Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 support (one port each), 0.3-megapixel cameras, 3-in-1 card readers and 5200 mAh batteries (5 hours on a charge).
