Aims Higher in September with the 32GB version

ASUS is one of the companies out there that has more than one tablet in store, one of which is even on sale, but it looks like a certain other project has been sacked in favor of another.

Users that have been keeping track of things on the tablet market will no doubt be acquainted with the Eee Pad Slider.

Developed by ASUS, this particular slate is different from most other tablets through its less than ordinary build, with a physical keyboard that can slide behind and under the main body.

Granted, there are docking solutions that can give other slates keyboard functionality, along with other extras, but the Slider is, conceptually, superior as far as pricing goes, as it sticks to the so-called 'standard' $500 price point while already including the keyboard, instead of demanding that customers spend an extra $100 or more on a dock.

Unfortunately, the Android-loaded Slider has its on problem, namely the fact that it has been running late for quite a while, a few months in fact.

Fortunately, its maker does appear determined to stick to its latest target ETA, previously implied to be during autumn, this year (2011).

Now, Tablets Magazine says that the slate will, indeed, arrive this time, during September in fact, only not in the originally planned form.

ASUS was planning on having a model with 16 GB of NAND Flash storage, but has supposedly abandoned the prospect. Instead, it will have 32 GB as the minimum, its price being of 499 Euro.

For those that need to refresh their memory, Eee Pad Slider utilizes the Tegra 2 SoC (system-on-chip) and has a 10.1-inch display, plus all the expected odds and ends (WiFi, USB, webcams, etc.).

Finally, it is more or less certain that a version with 3G support will arrive in the future, but this won't happen before the first quarter of 2012 and no exact price is known for now.
