The company is quite confident in its prospects for the year

Whether because of the new 22nm CPUs from Intel or some other market factors, ASRock is quite determined to make the best of 2012.

According to Digitimes, ASRock intends to finish 2012 with 9 million motherboard shipments under its belt.

One would think it odd, since only 3.7 million of these units have been sold so far: 2 million in the first quarter and 1.7 million in the second.

Nevertheless, ASRock believes that the Intel Ivy Bridge processor platform, as well as the upcoming Windows 8 OS, will push demand high enough to make up for the relatively lackluster showing so far.

20% of the total shipment should happen on the mid-to-high-end front, a rise from the current 15%.

ASRock draws 90% of its revenues from mainboards, so it makes sense that it would want to sell as many as possible. Whether or not it succeeds remains to be seen.
