ASRock has released a series of beta BIOSes meant to help users improve memory compatibility. The motherboards targeted by this update are 990FX Extreme4, 970 Extreme4, Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 and Z68 Extreme4.

The boards mentioned above boast a handful of awards for reliability and overclocking performance.

990FX Extreme4 and 970 Extreme4 are AMD dedicated boards, whereas the Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 and Z68 Extreme4 fit only Intel components.

Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 is, by far, the most appreciated motherboard of the four. According to TweakTown, it excels from top to bottom and is the best Fatal1ty board ever tested by them.

The 990FX Extreme4 isn't rated so much as an overclocker's board but as an all-rounder solution. It got the stamp of approval from Overclockers for being a reliable board for everyday use.

However, they say it is not suited for extreme overclocking and, therefore, not worthy of the “Extreme” name.
