14 DAY TRIAL // DotAsia, a Hong Kong organization, finally received the OK to set up the .asia domain which will represent the new suffix when it comes to Internet websites. This new domain is pretty important because the .eu and the .us extensions already grew up a lot and the web consumers were looking for .asia domains in order to include their pages into their local channel. AFP reports that new domains are available only for companies and global brands while the ordinary users are able to register for one starting February. The price of a domain starts from approximately 10 dollars but it depends on the domain provider which sells it.
"The .asia domain acts like a channel or a portal, showing your commitment to the Asia market as a whole. It provides an easier way to direct customers to your products. Our research has found that 'Asia' is one of the most searched-for terms and by having a .asia website, your ranking on Google or Yahoo will become much higher," said Edmon Chung from DotAsia according to AFP.
GoDaddy, one of the largest domain registrars on the web, is among the first companies to sell the the new .asia suffixes. As I said, the new domains are currently available only for companies or brands from the region but starting February, you can buy one straight from GoDaddy.
"Now is the time. Asia is a region with explosive online growth," said Bob Parsons, Go Daddy CEO and Founder. "We are ready and waiting to help people register the new .ASIA domain name extension."
Imagine that having a .asia domain is also very important for the Google PageRank because it is able to boost you traffic and improve your position in the Google search engine results page. However, you have to wait a few months until the public registration is opened and you are able to buy a domain.
