Some motherboards, especially small ones, cannot support RAID storage configurations on their own, so AREA PC developed an add-in-board that will do it in their stead.

The product will be available for sale in Japan soon, if it isn't already, and bears the name of RAIDJet SD-PESA3-2RL.

There are only two RAID modes supported, namely RAID 0 and RAID 1.

To that end, the board has two SATA 6.0 Gbps ports and relies on a Marvell-made SATA 6.0 Gbps RAID controller. Also, it is meant to be inserted into a PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot.

Finally, the newcomer is a low profile AIB (add-in-board with half-height PCB) and will have a price of 2,980 JPY ($38 / 29 Euro).

No clue yet when, if ever, other countries will get to see this thing.
