Not content with just the computer industry, Swiss company ARCTIC COOLING decided to go for a more expansive and encompassing approach. Now, instead of merely managing heat for CPUs, GPUs and whatever other IT components, the cooling-solution developer moved to a different area. Instead of showing us a breakthrough in heat management, we were instead presented with a solution to another one of the industry's most common issues: power. The company introduced its first power-adapter series ARCTIC C1 and ARCTIC C2.
The goal of these devices is to be able to charge any kind of product that has a USB port. That's why the C1 and C2 come with one and four USB ports, respectively, offering the option of charging a wide range of different products, with the C2 allowing for multiple devices to be powered at the same time. The chargers/adapters are aimed at people who travel frequently.
Now, there is no longer the need to carry around 100 different types of plastic-cased turbines, nor will there be hair-raising situations such as insufficient power plugs. The Arctic-developed C1 and C2 will solve all of these problems, freeing up time and sparing users the unneeded stress.
Among the applications of the ARCTIC C1/C2 are the charging/sustenance of music players (MP3, MP4 players), handheld game consoles, PDSs, cellphones and even the newly launched
ARCTIC NC. Nokia and Sony Ericsson mobile phones are the only ones that will require an additional USB cable. The adapters provide a full-range 100 to 240V input and save not only space, but also charging time, especially the C2 that can charge four items simultaneously.
The chargers come with a two-year limited warranty and will be available in December 2009. The estimated retail price will be of $21.95 (14.95 EUR) for the C1 and of $26.55 (17.95 EUR) for the ARCTIC C2. Cables may be purchased at the ARCTIC COOLING
webshop for $4.90.
