Although Intel went out of its way and designed the Atom E600C FPGA processor especially for embedded duty a large number manufacturers out there still use regular Atom CPUs for their single board computers, ARBOR just announcing the EmCORE-i2902 EPIC-sized mainboard that makes use of the N450 processor.

Much like other such solutions that are available out there this too comes into an EPIC form factor and pairs the Intel Atom N450 processor with the ICH8M chipset.

Furthermore, the board also comes with 1GB of soldered DDR2 SDRAM memory and a 2GB soldered NANDrive storage space.

An Atom D510 processor is also selectable if the customer so desires, the D510 featuring a dual-core design, these being run at 1.66GHz, and comes with a 13W TDP and integrated graphics.

In comparison, the Atom N450 also comes with integrated graphics and Hyper-Threading support but features a much lower power consumption, its TDP being rated at just 5.5W, although it has to make do with just a single 1.66 GHz core.

Designed for industrial automation, security control, the government sector and transportation, ARBOR's mainboard features all the standard I/O interfaces and storage devices including 5 COM ports, 6 USB 2.0 ports, 8 programmable digital input/output.

In addition two SATA and two IDE ports are also provided so users can easily expand the 2GB of onboard storage.

In the connectivity department, the board comes with two Gigabit Ethernet controllers and a SIM card socket, the EmCORE-i2902 offering further expansion capabilities via a Mini PCI bus, a Mini-card bus and a LPC connector.

On the graphics side of things, the Intel GMA3150 integrated graphics can drive high resolution Analog RGB (2048 x 1536) and single channel 18-bit LVDS interfaces, as well as dual independent displays.

Unfortunately, informations regarding prices and availability of this single-board computer weren't released but we expect these to come forth pretty soon.
