APT (Advanced Package Tool), a set of core tools inside Debian that makes it possible to install, remove, and keep applications up to date, is now at version 0.9.12.

Advanced Package Tool was launched back in 1998, and 15 years later it's almost at version 1.0. The developers are still releasing small increments and it will take a while to get to 1.0 Highlights of APT 0.9.12:

• A typo has been fixed in apt-private/private-show.cc; • apt no longer strips :any from dependencies in single-arch; • The new "apt-get upgrade --with-new-pkgs" option has beene added; • The status-fd progress calculation has been fixed for certain multi-arch install/upgrade situations.
