In an earlier piece, we brought to your attention that NVIDIA pushed out its latest mobile graphics processing unit arriving as the GeForce GTX 965M.

The chip maker quietly introduced the GPU without any special event or press release, because the truth is the GTX 965M ultimately doesn't bring anything new to the table.

The card is based on the GM204 GPU and uses 1,024 CUDA processors and has a base clock of 944 MHz, an unspecified Boost clock and 128-bit memory interface (2.5GHz clock). The memory bandwidth is of 80 GB/s.

Compare that to that to what the GeForce GTX 980M brings along with its 1,536 processors, 1,038 MHz and 4GB of GDDR4 working at 2.4GHz over 256-bit interface (memory bandwidth of 160GB/s).

Since the GPU is official, AORUS has already taken the opportunity to unveil a notebook taking advantage of the new GPU architecture.

The AORUS X5 arrives with a dual GTX 965M configuration in SLI. This setup is said to provide better performance than NVIDIA’s top-of-the-line GTX 980M version.

The X5 comes along with an awesome 15-inch 4K IGZO display. It can support up to three M.2 SSDs in RAID 0, has a 2.5-inch bay and can welcome up to 32GB of RAM.

It also weighs 2.5kg / 5.5 lbs and boasts a profile of 22.9 mm / 0.95 inches. The notebook is expected to arrive in Q2 2015 with a price tag climbing up from a chunky $2,229 / €1,939.
