AOL has announced the evolution of Streamliner Beta 2 into OpenRide Beta 3 and has issued an open invitation to testers, announcing in addition that it will also deliver an automatic Active Update to
the participants in the current beta stages that will upgrade their software to the Beta 3 version starting with September 5. OpenRide aims to center core Internet application on a single platform addressing broadband users and is meant to fill in the hills of the AOL 9.0 client.
"The new AOL OpenRide Beta software helps you do what you want online in fewer clicks and fewer hassles. No more jumping from one window to the next - everything you need is right there the moment you need it. Whether you're connecting with friends, browsing the Web, sharing photos, watching video clips (or doing them all at once), your tools and activities are always within easy reach - so you can multitask with ease," explained AOL.
The OpenRide client bundles together AOL Mail, AIM instant messaging, the AOL Explorer browser and a Media Center in a four-pane design that enables dynamic navigation and interactivity. Browsing, email reading, video, music and picture viewing are actions that can be performed via the OpenRide's automated panes that can be customized with Dynasizer tool.
