For the first time in years, AOL is specifically targeting the Mac userbase with the first release of "a brand new, all-in-one web software, now available for download: AOL Desktop for Mac." A fresh web browser that works similarly to Safari, a new AOL IM client and tabbed view are just a few of the new features available with the free-to-download AOL Desktop 1.0.

"AOL Desktop was developed by Mac users, for Mac users, from the ground up. Your Mac makes your life easy. Make it even easier with the new AOL Desktop for Mac," says the American global Internet services and media company with ultimate goals of world domination. AOL Desktop for Mac puts one's Web browser, instant messaging, email and favorite features in one place, and helps users manage multiple email accounts from the same window.

The newly released AOL Desktop 1.0 application sports a fresh web browser that shares web components with the Mac OS X, being based on the same open source project as Apple's standard web browser on Leopard, Safari. It also brings a new version of AOL's Instant Messenger. Buddy Info, AIM Expressions, and Buddy Fly Out are just some of the highlights.

Tabbed Organization is also one of the features included with AOL Desktop for Mac, available for both the web browser and IM for an organized, uncluttered view for all of your windows.

Fixed issues include: reply to an unread message while preview pane is off, that renders mail content instead of "message content loading"; and drag Mail from local folders to host folders.

With AOL Desktop for Mac, you can simultaneously launch your browser, email and AIM almost instantly, while the "highly customizable toolbar" makes it easy to access your favorites.
