Back in December, Sony released the official Android 4.3 for its Xperia Tablet Z, but some of you might be craving to get a taste of the new KitKat goodness.

If that’s the case, then you should know that the official Android Open Kang Project (AOKP) has posted the nightly builds of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the LTE / Wi-Fi versions of the Sony tablet.

Before you get started, the team advises users to perform a full device wipe, even if you had a previous AOKP version on the tablet.

An Android backup is also recommended just in case something goes wrong with the installation. On top of that, note that you should have an unlocked bootloader and the latest version of CWM / TWRP recovery.

AOKP is the latest major ROM to update to KitKat, after CyanogenMod and OMNI.
