14 DAY TRIAL // Acer is not the only one that released a new gaming monitor. AMD's FreeSync technology seems to be quite popular this week. Case in point, AOC has launched its own display, called Q2778VQE.
The new monitor from AOC has a diagonal of 27 inches, like the Acer XG270HU we just finished talking about.
That is not the only similarity between the two displays, as the screen resolution is the same, at 2560 x 1440 pixels. WQHD as it is otherwise known.
The newcomer even has the same response time, of 1ms, making it good for even the most fast-paced games out there. Not that 4ms or 5ms would have really made much of a difference to most eyes.

Besides the screen size, resolution and response time, the newcomer is about as good as you might expect in all other areas as well, save perhaps viewing angles.
Since the display uses a TN panel instead of IPS, it has reduced color richness, but narrower viewing angles: 170 degrees horizontal, 160 degrees vertical. That's not very far from an IPS model's 178 / 178 degrees though.
What the new monitor isn't is edge-less. The frame of the display is one of those good old, regular rectangles, just as wide on the sides as it is on the top and bottom edges.
Furthermore, the brightness is of 350 cd/m2. Not the greatest in the world, but still superior to that of more or less every business display out there, as demanded by a high-end screen.
A final note should be made of the fact that AOC expects the Q2778VQE WQHD monitor to be as popular on the professional photographer and video making markets as it is in the gaming industry.
Finally, for connecting to a computer, game console or media player, the new monitor has DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connectors, plus D-Sub (VGA).

The AOC Q2778VQE LCD WQHD monitor has a price of £299 / $460 / €403 and should be up for sale with a 3-year warranty, and EnergyStar 6.0 and TCO 6.0 certifications (Eco Mode and e-Saver mode are supported).
