It's made for gamers and, of course, has the Full HD resolution

Gaming hardware is the cream of the crop, so AOC had to avoid cutting corners when it put together the G2460PQU. Fortunately, that was easy since it didn't really need to worry about the price all that much when designing at that level.

Not that AOC went out of its way to make it overpriced. The tag is of $399 / €399, through various retailers.

You'll have to keep checking with your local retailers if you're anxious to get one though, because they might not have made it out of the US and Taiwan yet.

The AOC G2460PQU is a queer thing. It has a refresh rate of 144 Hz, but AOC makes no mention of 3D support. We'll assume it is included until told otherwise.

The screen size is of 24 inches (diagonal) and the aspect ratio is of 16:9 (cinematic). Expected, given the native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Since we're on the subject of specifications, we may as well get them all out of the way. The brightness is of 350 cd/m2, which is pretty high (normal one is 250 cd/m2).

For connectivity, AOC included VGA, dual-link DVI, an HDMI input, and a DisplayPort. Four USB 3.0 ports exist as well (one for fast charging), which let you connect peripherals straight to the display.

As for the contrast ratio, it is of 1,000:1, but the DCR (dynamic contrast ratio) is of 80,000,000:1 (determines the clarity of the image when moving from a bright to a dark scene, with the monitor in a dark room).

Furthermore, there are seven display modes for owners to choose from, each with its own screen size and aspect ratio: 17" Pillar Box (5:4), 19" Pillar Box (5:4), 19" Widescreen (16:10), 21.5" Widescreen (16:9), 22" Widescreen (16:10), 23" Widescreen (16:9) and 24" Widescreen (16:9).

Maybe you like playing older games that don't have a broad spectrum of resolution, and no widescreen mode, like D&D-based 2D RPG's from the years 1998-2000. The first two modes will work best there.

Finally, the stand can shift the display from horizontal landscape to vertical portrait mode, as well as tilt, swivel and adjust in terms of height (130 mm).

All in all, not bad for a display with a response time of 1 ms. The AOC G2460PQU should definitely keep the image sharp and colorful even in fast-paced shooters and strategies. And if you want to mount it on a wall, you only need to unscrew the VESA mount from the stand and stick it to a wall.
